Dr. Meg Mitchell

Meghan Mitchell, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist who combines medical expertise with a caring, personal touch. She graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a degree in Engineering before serving four years in the U.S. Navy, teaching reactor physics to sailors. Eventually, the pull of home brought her back to Chapel Hill, NC, where she earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at UNC Hospitals, serving as Chief Resident.

After training, Dr. Mitchell and her family moved to the DC metro area. She founded Rock Creek Dermatology in Silver Spring and Urbana, later joining a large dermatology group where she cared for patients in Urbana for seven years. Now, with Mitchell Family Dermatology, she is excited to return to a more personal style of practice—getting to know her patients, their families, and their stories.

In Dr. Mitchell’s own words:
“I’ve been practicing dermatology since 2011, and my greatest joy is building lasting relationships with my patients. I love seeing people year after year, sometimes caring for several generations of the same family. To me, great dermatology means more than just treating skin—it means listening, understanding, and offering the best care possible while treating everyone with kindness and respect. I’m grateful every day for the trust my patients place in me, and I look forward to making a positive difference in their lives.”

Sidney’s passion for dermatology began while working as a traveling medical assistant, serving rural populations in Florida and Georgia. Her interest continued to grow during PA school through clinical rotations where she discovered how meaningful it is to help patients feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. Sidney finds it especially rewarding to see the impact that treating a skin condition can have on a patient’s quality of life. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate care and helping each patient feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their treatment journey.
